This British Council Accredited programme runs from mid May until late June and in the second half of August. The programme is aimed at learners wishing to develop their English language and communication skills.
The programme's main focus is development of language (grammar, vocabulary and pronunciation) and skills (reading, writing, speaking and listening) through class projects. Learners develop their English through lessons, activities and excursions based around a project, for example ‘Homes and Buildings’, ‘Food and Drink’, ‘Art and Design’, ‘Sport and Fitness’. Learning is often 'task-based' – learners learn through ‘doing things’ in English. Learners practise and develop their language through tasks such as class activities, conducting surveys, academic excursions, drama workshops and creative arts sessions.
To monitor and support student development, there are weekly tests and tutorials for all students.
Project English offers one academic excursion per week, and one afternoon of sports (for example, football, badminton, softball). In addition, the classes use the surrounding area as a resource, and students may do project work in the Camden/ Regent’s Park area. Project English runs at 14 Gloucester Gate, London, NW1.
