Adrianna JagielskaMs Adrianna Jagielska
Learning Support Assistant

Ms Adrianna Jagielska is from Poland and she works as a learning support assistant for year 7. She acquired a BA degree in teaching English at the Teacher Training College in Poland.  Currently she is studying Psychology at  Birkbeck University in London.  Adrianna has completed a counselling course and in-house training for working with SEN.

She taught in private and state schools in Poland.  In the UK Adrianna worked as a nursery school nurse and a learning support assistant in a charity based school for children with cerebral palsy and other disabilities. In her free time she works as a volunteer in ‘Victim Support’ giving emotional support to people.

Albano LopesMr. Albano Lopes
Mathematics and Science teacher

Mr. Albano Lopes is from Portugal and graduated from  University of Aveiro with Honors Degree in teaching Physics and Chemistry. He also has attained Qualified Teacher Status in both Portugal and the United Kingdom.

Albano has extensive teaching experience in Portugal and has also taught at a number of state schools in London. He has a hands-on approach to teaching Science and has been involved in several projects aimed at equipping students with appropriate scientific and thinking skills. As a scientist, Albano has a special interest in optics and holography.

Alexandra Moreno HemmingMs Alexandra Moreno Hemming
Deputy Head of Secondary School/Head of Modern Languages Department

Ms Alexandra Moreno Hemming is Deputy Head of Secondary School and Head of Modern Languages Department.  Alexandra is from Colombia and has been working with the International Community School since 2002. She has a BA in Modern Foreign Languages (English, Spanish and French), a MA in International Business as well as IB training in Language B Spanish MYP and Diploma and Technology MYP. She believes that taking on new experiences within different countries, cultures and schools and working with other curriculum has helped to make her a more flexible and perceptive person.

Andrea TrkuljaMs Andrea Trkulja
Economics teacher/Home Languages Coordinator/WEB coordinator

Ms Andrea Trkulja was born in Croatia, and lived in the United States and Serbia before settling in the UK. She has graduated from the Faculty of Political Sciences in Belgrade with MA equivalent degree in Political Science and Journalism. Andrea has also completed a postgraduate course at Goldsmiths College, London with a MA degree in Digital Media. She obtained teaching qualification within SKOLA, London.

Andrea teaches Economics AS and A levels and additionally supports students in English Literature. She is managing the school web site and pursues her interest in exploring the fusion of sociology and technology. Andrea enjoys lindy-hop dance and takes long walks through London.

Bojana ZujevicMs. Bojana Zujevic
Learning Support Assistant

Ms. Bojana Zujevic is from Belgrade, Serbia and graduated from Belgrade University of Arts, Faculty of Music with an MA in Music Education. She taught in specialised music schools in Serbia, students age 11-15.
In the last five years Bojana has been working within SEN department as a learning support assistant. She has undertaken special needs training courses focusing on learning difficulties within the autistic spectrum disorder.

Field Studies Manager and Geography Teacher
Co-ordinator of environmental education at ICS

Dr Caroline Fowler is from Hampshire, England. She graduated from the John Ruskin University with a first class honours in Ecology, Conservation and Animal Behaviour. Caroline then went on to study for her PhD on the Parasitology, Social Status and Welfare of Mara (a fascinating South America rodent) at Whipsnade Wild Animal Park. Whilst studying she lectured at the university and volunteered for London Zoo and the London Wildlife Trust which fuelled her passion for environmental education and all things green!

Christopher HaverlyMr Christopher Haverly
Technology teacher

Mr. Christopher Haverly is originally from South Africa. He has a B.Sc. (Hons) degree in Chemistry and graduated from the University of Cape Town, South Africa. In addition, he has undergone training as a MYP Technology teacher.

In South Africa, he taught Science and Mathematics to students from disadvantaged backgrounds and to EFL students. He has worked as an English language trainer in Helsinki Finland for four years.  Chris also worked as a full-time tutor in the United Kingdom at the primary and secondary level, and tutored Mathematics, Science and English. He has extensive experience in working with SEN learners, supported by Local Authorities in London.

Chris has also worked in the educational publishing industry on developing leaner books and teacher guides in the Science and Technology subject areas. Chris also has experience in curriculum development, both in South Africa and the UK.

Deirdre StirlingMs Deirdre Stirling
Art teacher

Ms Deirdre Stirling is from London, UK and holds the Oxford University Certificate in Fine Art from Ruskin School of Drawing as well as a B.A. in English from London University.

Ms Deirdre taught in secondary schools and at East London College of Further Education. As well as teaching both Art and English to Advanced level she has taught pottery and History of Art.

Dusanka PizuricaMs Dusanka Pizurica
Music teacher/MYP1 Form tutor

Ms Dusanka Pizurica is a Music teacher and form tutor to Year 1. Ms Pizurica graduated from the University of Arts in Cetinje, Montenegro, Department of  Music, with a BA in Music. Ms Dusanka is also a qualified CELTA teacher, has Colourstrings teacher accreditation and has trained in Music Therapy at Goldsmiths University, London.

She has taught in specialised music schools as well as secondary schools in the UK, Montenegro and Serbia.

Ms Dusanka can play the violin to a professional standard. In her spare time, she works as a freelance orchestra player and is a member of several quartet groups where she regularly plays. She has experience in broadcast media through her involvement in the BBC's show 'Maestro', and also a solo violin part in the film 'Dog Days'.

EanMr. Ean Orlando Alleyne
Position in School:  IB MYP Coordinator, Head of Mathematics

Mr. Ean Orlando Alleyne was born on the island of Barbados in the West Indies, and lived in Boston, USA since age ten. Ean has B Ed in Secondary School Education (Mathematics) from Boston University.  He has also studied Comparative Romance Literature at Harvard University where he has earned an A. B.  He has just completed an MA in Curriculum, Pedagogy, and Assessment from the Institute of Education, London. He is trained to teach MYP Mathematics and IB Higher Level Diploma Mathematics.  Ean loves the theatre, dance, ballet especially is an avid flutist and loves playing works by 19th century French composers.

Fernando Enrique Arce BrainMr. Fernando Enrique Arce Brain
Learning Support Assistant

Mr. Fernando Enrique Arce Brain is a learning support assistant for Physical Education and additionally supports one-to-one students with mild learning difficulties. He currently studying Bsc Geography and the environment. Over the last three year in ICS he has undertaken in-house trainings that helped his professional development within SEN department.

Fernando is committed to the inclusion of children with special needs, encouraging the growth of self esteem and independence of the students with special needs.

Ms Hannah BennettMs Hannah Bennett
Art Teacher

Ms Hannah Bennett is from London and graduated from Nottingham University with a BA in Photography. She has worked within the creative industries as a photographer and artist for nine years and last year completed her PGCE at The Institute of Education in London. She has taught in both grammar and state secondary schools and delivered art workshops and tours at two central London galleries. She is currently teaching Art on the MYF programme. When she’s not working, she enjoys travelling, reading and dancing.

Ismet IsiklarMs Ismet Isiklar
Mathematics teacher/MYP 2 Form tutor

Ms. Ismet Isiklar is from Turkey. She has graduated from Bogazici University, Istanbul with a degree in Mathematics Education. Completing additional Science
courses, she was awarded a B.Sc degree in both Maths and Science Education
with Honours. Ismet has taught Mathematics for two years in Turkey. After moving to the UK, she completed her Masters Degree in Mathematics Education at Institute of Education, University of London and submitted her dissertation on Teaching Algebra. She has experience in working with SEN learners in London. She has a special interest in ICT applications in Maths and she enjoys travelling.

Jessica ReidMs. Jessica Reid
Middle Years Foundation Teacher

Ms. Jessica Reid is from New Zealand and graduated from Auckland University with a B.A. in Japanese and a Graduate Diploma in Business. She also has a CELTA from Languages International in Auckland. Ms. Jessica taught English in Japan for a year and English and High School Preparation classes to international students in New Zealand for two and a half years.

English Literature and History teacher/Diploma Coordinator

Miss Joanna Cooper is from County Cork in Ireland and graduated from University College Cork with a B.A. in English Literature and History. She also has a M.A. in Irish Literature and a Higher Diploma in Education. She has gained her IB MYP and Diploma accreditation in Slovakia and Switzerland.

Sjors DuursemaMr. Keith Mert
Science teacher/MYP4 tutor

Mr. Keith Mert is originally from Cape Town, South Africa.  He has graduated from the University of the Western Cape (UWC) with a B.SC(Ed) majoring in animal physiology and education.  Mr. Keith has taught in state schools both in Cape Town (8 years) and Johannesburg (4 years).  He has been living and working in the UK for seven years where he also completed Qualified Teachers Status (QTS). Before joining ICS community Keith worked at Sheredes School in Hertfordshire for six years. He is a passionate reader, enjoys traveling and fitness.

Ladislav BariMr. Ladislav Bari 
Learning Support Assistant for Mathematics, Technology and Science

Mr. Ladislav Bari is originally from Slovakia and lived in Hungary before coming to London. He works as a learning support assistant for Mathematics. Ladislav began his higher education at University of Technology and Economics in Budapest, and continued his studies at the University of London, Institute of Education. Mr. Ladislav is experienced in developing strategies that help students with special needs fulfill their potential in Mathematics. He is committed to the inclusion of children with special needs into mainstream education.

Ms Laura Knox Ms Laura Knox
French and English Language Teacher

Ms Laura Knox is from Warwickshire, United Kingdom. She graduated from the University of Wales, Aberystwyth with a BA (Hons) in Geography and French. She has taught English as a foreign language in primary schools in France, and at both primary and secondary level in Québec, Canada.  Laura has also worked as a Learning Support Assistant in the United Kingdom supporting students with a wide range of special educational needs. She completed her PGCE in French at Goldsmiths College, University of London in June 2009 and is passionate about inclusion in the language classroom and creating cross-curricular projects, as well as expanding her own language repertoire by studying Spanish in her spare time. She also enjoys music, cycling, reading and world cinema.

Maryam ThawfeegaMs. Maryam Thawfeega
MYF coordinator

Ms. Maryam Thawfeega is from Male’, Maldives. She completed a Diploma in teaching English as a Foreign Language (Dip TEFL) at the Moray House College of Education of the University of Edinburgh. She then continued her further studies at the same university and gained a Bachelor of Education degree in English Language Teaching (B.Ed. ELT). She also completed a Master of Arts degree in English Language Teaching (MA ELT) at the University of Warwick. Her continued interest in language teaching motivated her to complete a CELTA Trainer course and become a Teacher Trainer at SKOLA.

Maryam worked in the Maldives as a teacher and teacher trainer for about 12 years, before she came to London. She has been working at ICS since June 2003.

MelanieMelanie N. Pappas-Lemona
Assistant Director of the Student Support Department

Melanie N Pappas Lemona, MSc, BSc, is an accredited Graduate Member of the British Psychological Society, Child Developmental Psychologist, with a specialised training and experience in the assessment and therapeutic care of children and early adolescence.   Melanie received graduate training in psychoanalytic mother-infant and toddler-group observations supervised by an accredited psychotherapist as well as post graduate training at The Whittington Hospital, Post Natal Unit, in London, U.K. as a Sibling Support-Play Therapist.  Melanie has received additional training in Behavioural Interventions and ABA Certification through years of work experience with children and adolescents with the Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD), learning disabilities, and behavioural challenges.  Her extensive training has allowed her to obtain expertise in the area of child assessment, behaviour analysis and therapeutic care through play, for ASD, learning difficulties, emotional struggles, and behaviour challenges.

Stephanie McMillanMs Stephanie McMillan
Humanities/history teacher and MYP3form tutor

Ms Stephanie McMillan is from Australia and graduated from Deakin University with a double degree: B.A in history, and a Bachelor of Teaching (Secondary).

Stephanie’s teaching experience has taken her across the globe from Welshpool, Victoria where she taught for two years, to Norway Porsgrunn, Telemark where she worked as Science and Humanities teacher. Stephanie has undertaken MYP Humanities training and worked as Personal Project coordinator and ‘Areas of Interaction: Environment’ leader.

Sjors DuursemaMr. Sjors Duursema
Physical Education teacher/MYP5 form tutor

Mr. Sjors Duursema is from Groningen, Netherlands. He graduated from Hanze Hogeschool Groningen with a BA in Sport Studies. Additionally he is IB trained to teach Technology and Physical Education. His expertise is winter sports.

Sjors has thought in IB schools in the Netherlands and Norway before coming to the UK. He is also interested in history, sports in general and Information Technology.

Tyson HalletMs. Tyson Hallet
Librarian

Ms.Tyson Halletis from the United Sates and graduated from the University of North Carolina at Ashevil with a B.A. in Literature & French. She also has an MS. in Library Science from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill as well as MYP training. Ms. Tyson taught information literacy and website design in Raleigh, North Carolina in the US. Ms. Tyson has a special interest in French literature and film, enjoys hiking and swimming and is currently researching the ways of telling old stories and folktales in new ways.
