EXCITE: Life Skills holds first photography exhibition

Photo of students holding photosEXCITE is the first major photography exhibition ever to be held by the Life Skills Team. It takes a unique look at the journey of the life skills students.

This unique art event took place on the 17th of December at SKOLA’s premises in Delancy Street.  The images in this exhibition have come from the length and breadth of the London streets and natural habitat, and include well-known streets, signs, shops and a look into London’s natural reserves. The exhibition includes a personal outlook from each of our students into urban life, emotion, social interactions and everyday life.

Ultimately, this was a treasure trove for anyone who loves photography, and presented the extraordinary variety, breadth and sensitive nature of our distinctive students.

For the first time Life Skills invited members of the public, family and fellow students to join them to share and view their work on the 17th of December, 2008.  Visitors had the opportunity to view the student’s creative work and purchase one of their photographs.  Proceeds were shared to the Life Skills and Travel and Learn Program and to the SITSE foundation.  Guests celebrated the evening with us and the creative work and strong unique talents of our students.

Our students realize their strengths and their aspirations in life through such creative programs and we help them through such activities to achieve and develop life goals. In order to do this, we have formed a team of professionals who through their experience and most of all, passion, are committed and dedicated to making learning as meaningful and exciting as possible. The title 'life skills' says it all.  The students prepare for life, to learn through hands-on experience offered to them in their natural environment, in wider society and in the setting of their school. This is why life skills for us is not about a student sitting at a desk and accumulating information, but participating in group projects, learning through interaction with others, preparing for citizenship and community life, working towards career goals and gaining the skills for a fulfilling life.  Please join and celebrate with us in our future exhibitions.
