2 ‘shifts’ per day (1 ‘shift’ = morning, afternoon or evening activity), plus two night duties.

SALARY
Dependent on qualifications and experience. Salary scales available upon request.
APPRAISAL
Short term staff appraised through observation, informal means etc.
MAIN OBJECTIVE
To ensure the smooth running of the learning and living environment for the whole school (staff and students).
CONTEXT
The Centre Manager is responsible for the smooth running of all aspects of the centre, establishing procedures and solving problems quickly and efficiently. This is a residential position and duties will include supervising students in their residences.
CMs must be aware of everything that is happening at the centre and keep communication channels to Admissions Office, Director of Junior ELT and host school open. The Centre Manager’s role is a management position and you should expect a demanding workload. You will be monitoring all aspects of the programme.
MAIN OBJECTIVES
- Overall management of the centre to ensure that a high-quality programme is delivered, following Skola/ICS guidelines closely
- Coordination of the academic and activities programmes and ensuring that they are linked
- Leading the Centre Management Team to ensure effective management of all staff
- Maintaining a professional working relationship with staff, clients and host school staff
- Liaison with the Host School on all issues
- Safety and welfare of all students and staff
- Quality control and customer satisfaction
RESPONSIBILITIES/DUTIES
- To have read and understood the all school documents and handbooks, and be fully conversant with Skola/ICS policies for the welfare and protection of children. At all times whilst on duty, staff are responsible for the care, welfare and safety of students
- Ensure that the organisation of the centre, courses and welfare of staff and students, comply with the British Council and English UK guidelines
- Manage the provision of good customer service according to customer needs and stated publicity
- Establish and maintain open communication between the centre, clients, and Head Office. Represent SKOLA/ICS positively in all conversations with clients, staff, and the host centre
- Establish and maintain clear lines of management and effective procedures, and work closely with the Centre Management Team ( DOS, DOCA, Heads of Houses, Administrator) to achieve this
- Create a positive team atmosphere and motivate the staff effectively
- Lead and participate in the Staff Induction
- Control expenditure of the budget, withdraw cash floats from the bank following specific procedures and maintain accurate accounts
- Liaise with Skola/ICS accounts regarding resources and budget
- Co-ordinate the set up of the centre
- Close the centre, pack and return all SKOLA stock and unspent centre monies
- Finalise the accounts and write an end of centre report to be submitted to the directir of junior ELT within fourteen days after the closing of the centre
- Ensure that all Skola/ICS/Host School Health & Safety policies are implemented and monitored
- Manage staff effectively to ensure that:
- The centre office is functioning and secure at all times
- Accurate data on students and staff is maintained
- All documentation is checked, centre administration is carried out correctly, and that completed paperwork is submitted to Head Office on time
- The state of premises, equipment and resources is monitored throughout the course
- The teaching and activity programmes are successfully integrated
- High levels of performance are maintained
- Accommodation and Welfare: (With Heads of Houses)
- Monitor staff/student safety and welfare.
- Allocate and monitor all residential accommodation with the assistance of the Heads of Houses, and ensure that sufficient members of staff are allocated in each house to maintain a rota of student supervision
- Delegate, supervise and monitor the Centre Management Team to duties outlined
- Liaise fully with Heads of Houses and Social and Sport Co-ordinators, Group Leaders, the site representative and the Senior Administrator at Head Office
- Be up-to-date on all UK welfare guidelines for juniors
- Oversee the implementation of all airport/rail/bus transfers for students and staff
- Co-ordinate, facilitate and lead regular training and workshops for staff
- Co-ordinate and lead management observation and evaluation programme
- Undertake regular training and update practice and methodology
- Lead staff meetings, training days and school functions according to the published schedule
- Co-ordinate induction of students into the school with management team
- Maintain safety of all students at all times within the school and off-site environment, prepare risk assessments where necessary
- Know way round the school building, including the location of the first aid box and fire exits
- Ensure the school’s routines and procedures are observed in accordance with the Teacher’s Handbook and notices or announcements
- Liaise with school management team to ensure a collaborative approach
- Liaise with host school regarding resources
- Oversee student airport arrival, induction and settling in
- Lead regular staff duties during periods of recess between lessons
- Offer all staff and students equal opportunities and maintain an environment in which no one is exposed to discriminatory behaviour
- Maintain safety of all staff and students at all times within the school environment, prepare risk assessments where necessary
- Act in accordance with school’s child protection policies, monitoring and reporting on student welfare when appropriate
- Undertake any other reasonable requests made by line manager

Essential
- Degree level qualifications in relevant subject area
- PGCE/ DELTA or equivalent
Desirable
- Post graduate qualification in EFL/ESOL/Linguistics
- Full qualified teacher status
- Coaching/training qualifications
- First Aid qualifications
EXPERIENCE
Essential
- Two years experience as Director of Out of Class Activities or equivalent
- Two years experience in International Education
- Three years experience working outside the UK
- 2 years’ experience of managing a team
- Experience working in a residential environment
Desirable
- Five years teaching post qualified teacher/EFL status with the appropriate age level/ subject
- Experience working in a residential environment

- Native Speaker level in written and spoken English
