Middle Years Programme (MYP)

The MYP for students aged 11 to 16 is a five-year framework that provides excellent preparation for the International Baccalaureate Diploma Programme (IBDP), available from age 16.

Broad and balanced in its approach, the programme features eight subject groups and, in the final year, student grades may be validated through an e-Assessment or an external assessment. Inclusive by design, students of all interests and academic abilities can benefit from this programme.

A Flexible and Modern Approach

The MYP began as an initiative of the International Schools Association, aspiring to meet the needs of middle level learners in international schools.

It's a highly flexible curriculum that promotes the fundamental concepts of intercultural understanding, communication and holistic learning. 20 years after first launching, the MYP was re-launched in 2014, ready to meet the needs of a new generation of students, teachers and school communities.

The MYP is a natural choice for ICS London as it builds on the competencies developed in the PYP, where there is an emphasis on the development of the whole child as an inquirer, both in the classroom and in the world outside the school.

The MYP relies on connecting classroom practices and content to the world outside by emphasising teaching and learning through global contexts, and by assisting students to play out the full learner profile.

We believe that our innovative approach to education inspires each and every student to discover their strengths within a community of future leaders. The MYP programme is enhanced at ICS London to ensure students enjoy a holistic learning experience which combines in-class learning as well as field visits across London, clubs and sports.
