International Secondary School

A Message from the Head of School

We use the International Baccalaureate as our core framework. For children aged 11-13, we teach the IB Middle Years Programme (MYP). For children aged 14-16, we offer a range of IGCSE subjects taught through an IB framework and for 16-18 year-olds we teach the world-renowned Diploma Programme (DP).

We acknowledge that every child is unique, and we therefore strive to ensure there is a balance between both the academic and pastoral support. Our staff provision ensures that each student is treated as an individual, with a personalized and innovative approach to learning.

We want our students to develop and grow holistically and we want our students to be inspired every day. With the exceptional level of support we provide, we enable students to discover their strengths within a community of future leaders.

Our unique approach in delivering the IB programme has led to ICS London consistently placing in the top 10 IB small schools in the country. Visit us to hear more about the opportunities available at ICS London for you.

Working in Partnership – Growing Together

We believe students can achieve their best work when they are secure in the knowledge that their parents, guardians and teachers share similar expectations regarding their progress.

Getting parents and guardians involved is a guiding principle. Formal parent/student/teacher conferences take place three times each year, with further meetings always available by appointment. And parents and guardians are always welcome to lend support for meetings, trips and social events!

With the involvement of parents and guardians, we aim to:

  • Encourage students to gain knowledge and understanding, to do their best and to aim for excellence
  • Help students to become active members of society, who know their rights and carry out their duties and responsibilities
  • Help students acquire knowledge and skills relevant to adult life in a fast-changing technological world
  • Assist students with their relationships with each other and their environment through music, visual art and other creative areas
  • Encourage students' talents, interests and gifts and help them to achieve at their highest level
  • Encourage students to be sensitive to one another, to respect the environment and the natural world
  • Encourage students to be independent and self-motivated learners, developing self-discipline, self-respect, self-confidence and resilience

Secondary Education and the International Baccalaureate

Our Secondary campus in Star Street, a short walk from the Primary site, is a day school where students on the MYP and International Baccalaureate DP undertake their academic studies.

These academically rigorous programmes, together with individualised learning plans and small class sizes, give our students the best preparation for higher education and the world beyond. An International Baccalaureate from ICS London is accepted at the world's finest universities, including those in the United Kingdom, United States and elsewhere, giving our students the best chance to realise their full academic potential.

Further information about the MYP, IGCSE and DP programmes can be found in the Academic Life section.
