The International Community School (ICS), as it was known, opened its doors in Marylebone, central London, in 1979.
The school has grown and developed over the years and is now one of just a small group of IB Word Schools offering the full International Baccalaureate (IB) programme. The school was formed upon a set of principles that the founders believed should underpin any school designed for the modern age.
1979
ICS was founded in 1979 by the Toettcher family. It was initially an English-language school for the children of diplomats and global businesspeople based in London, but it quickly grew into a fully-fledged academic school based on the English national curriculum.
2006
ICS introduces the International Baccalaureate as a more relevant curriculum for students coming from different parts of the globe. ICS extended the IB offering to include the Diploma Programme (DP) as well as the Primary Years Programme (PYP) and Middle Years Programme (MYP).
2017
In 2017, ICS became integrated into the global NACE Schools group. Based in Spain, the NACE Schools Group had more than 50 schools worldwide.
2019
NACE Schools group becomes Globeducate. Globeducate is a network of 51 premium international schools and online programmes educating more than 25,000 students in ten different countries and on three continents. Being one of the four largest international school groups in the world provides internationally mobile parents and students with a choice of leading schools across Europe and the Middle East.
2020
ICS becomes ICS London with the ICS brand growing across Europe with schools in Paris and Milan. With the recognition that ICS in London was the leading IB school in the Globeducate Group, the growth of the ICS schools in Europe is testament to the quality of teaching and student academic achievement.
